Meet our Advanced Heart Failure Research Team 

 Marion McAdam

Senior Advanced Heart Failure Research Nurse 

Marion McAdam became interested in Heart Failure in 2004 while working in the Cardiology Ward of the Western Infirmary Hospital. She went on to work in Coronary Care, Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories and a Heart Failure Specialist Nurse before taking on a research position in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Marion now heads the Heart Failure Research team at the Golden Jubilee, with a steadily expanding team currently running more than 25 trials.  Many of these are complex device and interventional trails, which we are leading nationally and internationally. 

 

 Marie Wood

Advanced Heart Failure Research Nurse

Marie is new to research but has always had a vested interest in cardiovascular disease. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Adult Nursing, she worked in the Coronary Care Unit within in Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Marie moved to the Golden Jubilee in 2009 working in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory before moving on to the Research Institute.

 

 Elizabeth McPherson

Advanced Heart Failure Research Nurse

Elizabeth, known as Betty, qualified from the South Glasgow School of Nursing in 1980. She began her career in the Geriatric Unit, caring for the elderly until late 1986. After a brief spell in Jersey working with adults with special needs, she returned to Glasgow and her previous position at the now re-named Mansion House Unit. In 2004, she successfully embarked upon and completed her nurse conversion course, gaining her diploma. In 2007 she joined Glasgow’s Western Infirmary in Cardiology and the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories, moving to the Golden Jubilee in 2008. She joined the Interventional Cardiology Research Team at the Golden Jubilee in 2016.
